Colossians 3:23-25 NLT
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ. But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites.”
As I read this verse I sit back and think on how monumental this part of Scripture has impacted my life. I gave my life to the Lord over a decade ago and this has changed the trajectory of my life as a whole. I know what it’s like to be at the bottom of the barrel and live by this Scripture and I know what it’s like to be in a position of leadership living by this Scripture. In both aspects in life, having a healthy fear of the Lord is actually the secret key to unlocking success and joy in life!
I promise you that if you put the Lord first in everything you do giving Him thanks along the way, and honor His favor bestowed on your life, realizing that nothing is ours from the beginning but that it all belongs to Him in the first place, it will change your life forever too.
He did it for me, He will do it for you!
“For God has no favorites” Colossians 3:25.
The joy that the Lord gives you in this perspective shift from thinking that you are working for man to working for Jesus it is so liberating. One massive benefit is your will forgive easier and the way you relate to those all around you will adjust. You will realize that the things that used to bother you don’t bother you anymore. You will stop depending solely on the leaders above you for guidance and realize that they are can be just as flawed as you are. They are not the standard, Jesus is. We all need Jesus and He has designed it this way — to follow His example above all else.
This also makes you a valuable asset to any workplace you set foot in. They will see that you are different. Because, your utmost desire should be to please the Lord in all you do and you want nothing else but to honor Him. You’ll work hard and as unto the Lord but there will be an “X factor” in you that separates you from the pack.
Ephesians 5:20 NLT
“And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Im so thankful that Pastor Josiah helped me get this revelation all those years ago, back when he was leading the young adult ministry at Faith Chapel. I truly see this Scripture realized in this mans life day in and day out. God has used him to impact who I am and how I work, doing all things to honor God.
Engagement: I want you to shift out of the mind set that you have to labor by yourself to find that American dream that everyone seems to be after. When you go to work today, whatever your job may be, pause for 30 seconds and close your eyes, ask God to help you be the best employee this job has ever had. Pray for His grace to empower you to work hard, to love well and overall represent Jesus the best you possibly can. With His help you’ll soar!
Whatever walk of life you are in this applies to all you do. True joy and happiness is found in the Lord. Jesus reigns supreme over all and that includes your work life and your personal life. He wants every aspect of you.
You will see how much sweeter life is when you have Jesus at the center of your life, the faster your life will radically change to more like Jesus. You will find success in everything you do and no matter what happens trust that Jesus has your back. You will find more favor in everything you do. The Lord will elevate you to higher positions of influence and as you steward your relationship with Him, watch your walk with Him impact your work and relationships everywhere. Keep Him at the center He will entrust more to you.
Luke 12:48 NLT
“ But someone who does not know, and does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.”
Mathew 6:21 NLT
“Do not store up treasure here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and thieves do not break in and steal”
