1 Chronicles 29:13-14

"But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as

this? For all things come from You, and of Your own we have given You."

As Christians, giving is a cornerstone of our faith. The moment we surrendered our lives

to Jesus, we became givers—following the example of Christ, who gave His time,

energy, and ultimately, His life for us.

If we are called to live like Jesus, we must live a life of surrender. This surrender

transforms how we see our resources: our time, talents, and treasures. Everything we

have is a gift from God, and when we give, we are simply returning what He first

entrusted to us.

Three Attributes of Godly Giving

1. Cheerful Giving

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or

under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Giving with joy reflects a heart that understands the blessings tied to generosity. When

we give cheerfully, we bless God’s Kingdom and meet the needs of others. It’s not about

habit or obligation but about a deliberate, joyful act of worship.

Take a moment today to examine your heart: Are you giving with joy? Is your giving an

overflow of gratitude for all God has done for you?

2. Consistent Giving

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me

now in this,"says the Lord of hosts,"If I will not open for you the windows of heaven

and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."

(Malachi 3:10)

Consistency in giving reflects trust in God. Tithing—a tenth of our income—is a principle

that demonstrates faithfulness. It acknowledges that God is our ultimate provider.

If you struggle with consistency in giving, ask yourself why. Submit those reasons to

God in prayer, and ask for His help in trusting Him fully.

3. Generous Giving

"He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also

reap bountifully." (2 Corinthians 9:6)

Generosity goes beyond duty; it’s an outpouring of love and gratitude. The early Church

modeled this by selling possessions and meeting each other’s needs (Acts 4:34-37).

Their generosity flowed from hearts transformed by Christ.

Ask God to cultivate a spirit of generosity in you—not motivated by what you might

receive but out of a desire to glorify Him and bless others.

Giving as an Act of Trust

Our giving reflects our trust in God. Psalm 34:8-10 reminds us that those who seek the

Lord lack no good thing. Trusting God with our finances, time, and talents is a tangible

way to express our faith.

As you reflect today, consider how you can give cheerfully, consistently, and

generously. Not only will you bless others, but you’ll also experience the joy of

partnering with God in His work.

Engagement

As you reflect on God’s heart for generosity, take a step of faith today.

First, if you’re married, have an honest conversation with your spouse. Pray

together and ask, “Are we giving what God desires us to give?” Whether you’ve been

giving for years or haven’t started yet, invite God into this decision.

If you haven’t started giving, take that first step. Choose an amount and give it with

joy, trusting God to provide. Or, if you’re already giving, consider whether it’s time to

take a step toward tithing—giving the first 10% of what God has given you.

Finally, look beyond your giving to the church. Is there someone in your life who has

a need? Maybe a friend or neighbor is struggling, or a ministry could use a helping

hand. Find one way to meet a need this week, being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Giving isn’t just about money; it’s about trust. Let your giving reflect your faith in God’s

provision and your desire to bless others as He has blessed you.
